Summer Camps

This program is a wonderful way for your child to spend their summer.  Children are treated to a wide variety of activities including basic tumbling, swimming, arts & crafts, cooking, field games, specialized field trips and more.  The terms vary in activities such as Spanish, Drama, Computer camp, Dance Camp, Sports Camp, Yoga, Cooking Camp, and gardening.  Counselors strive to fill each day with activities that help campers improve skills and create great memories.

Camps have limited enrollment.  For the working parent, we have early drop off.

After School Care

During the school, Elsass offers a great  After School Care Program  which picks  up at Gullett, Pillow and Brentwood Elementary Schools.  Registration for this program is limited.

  There are many activities for the afterschool student which include arts and crafts, talent shows, organized outdoor games, and inside learning centers.  We also plan for opportunities during the afternoon schedule for the older students to work on and get assistance with homework.  We strive to present our afterschool students with a balance of fun and challenging afternoon activities to round out their day!

Curriculum Enrichment:

Parents may also choose to compliment our afterschool schedule by adding any of the following extracurricular activities that take place on the Elsass campus:  Spanish classes, Private Computer lessons, and Dance lessons with Dance Associates, on-site dance studio.

School (AISD) Holidays:

Elsass provides care for afterschoolers on most days that AISD is closed or releases the students early.   Early release days are provided at no extra charge as part of our program.   Full-day activities on other holidays are available on a sign-up basis for an additional fee.

There will be no afterschool care at Elsass on the following dates:  Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th,  Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday.  In order to prepare for our summer camp programs, the last day of afterschool care at Elsass is the last day of school.

Preschool Program
 
Allowing children to grow and develop in a nurturing environment is one of the primary goals of our preschool program.   By creating an atmosphere where children are free to explore their interests and develop their strengths, both physically and mentally, the children will be well prepared when the time comes to go to kindergarten.  Listening skills, social interaction, participating in group instruction, enhancing motor skills and balance are just a few of the areas which our staff will concentrate on developing.   Children rotate through several classrooms in the mornings with their homeroom group and participate in the following learning environments: Creative Play/Art, Math/Science Readiness, Reading/Language Readiness and Gym.  Afternoons are a little more self-directed.  Children wake up, enjoy a snack, have ample outside playtime and then are allowed to explore the various learning centers/projects set up in their homerooms by their afternoon teachers. Our computer lab is filled with a variety of learning games to excite their knowledge while having fun.

Our preschoolers also enjoy weekly trips to Crenshaw Athletic Club to participate in their gymnastics class!!

Parents may also choose to compliment our preschool schedule by adding any of the following extracurricular activities that take place on the Elsass campus:  Dance classes with Dance Associates (ballet and creative movement activities),  Spanish classes,  and private Computer classes.  (This class is in addition to the use of our in-house computer lab).

The children enjoy monthly visits (compliments of Elsass Academy) from various children's artists such as Jon Emery, Cowgirl Sue, Zoo Show and others. 

Fieldtrips are taken on approximately a monthly basis during the August through May school year.

Holidays.....We love to incorporate holidays from every culture at our preschool as we feel that learning about different cultures broadens our understanding and compassion for each other as individuals.
